Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is IngredientIQ's AI label scanning?
IngredientIQ utilizes advanced multimodal Vision AI fine-tuned on global food standards, FDA regulations, and European cosmetics databases. It achieves over 98% accuracy on clear ingredient labels. For best results, ensure adequate lighting and hold your camera flat against the ingredient label.
Can I scan cosmetics, personal care products, and pet food?
Yes! IngredientIQ is specifically designed to handle three distinct categories: Human Foods, Pet & Animal Food, and Cosmetics/Personal Care (skincare, shampoo, makeup). The AI automatically detects the product category and applies relevant guardrails.
What are Health Guardrails and how do they work?
Health Guardrails are our specialized detection rules that screen ingredient labels for toxic chemicals, artificial dyes (like Red 40, Yellow 5), parabens, carcinogens, trans fats, and excess sugars. When a harmful chemical is found, IngredientIQ highlights it and suggests cleaner alternatives.
Why are pet food ingredient guardrails different from human food?
Dogs and cats metabolize compounds very differently than humans. Common human additives (such as Xylitol sweetener, garlic powder, propylene glycol, synthetic preservatives BHA/BHT) can cause severe organ damage in pets. IngredientIQ evaluates pet food against strict veterinary toxicology criteria.
How do I cancel or modify my IngredientIQ Pro plan?
You can cancel or modify your subscription at any time directly inside the mobile app by navigating to Profile > Subscription, or by opening your receipt email sent by Stripe. Your Pro access will remain active until the end of your current billing period.
What should I do if the camera screen remains black?
If the camera view does not load, please check your device's System Settings > Privacy > Camera permissions and ensure IngredientIQ is allowed to access the camera. Restarting the app after updating permissions usually resolves the issue.
